Lago de Peten Itza

Hola everyone!

We are in lovely Flores, Guatemala, a city that rests within Lago de Peten Itza. It is beautiful here! (also very very hot...!)

The promenade goes all around the island

The trip from San Ignacio, Belize to Flores went off without a hitch. We hired a tour company to get us to the border and then with a driver to take us to Flores, Guatemala.

We were originally going to go to the Tikal ruins today but that sounded like a lot of effort, and the ruins will be there tomorrow. Plus, this is what we are looking at from our room:

Lago de Peten Itza
Flores is a lovely little town, with sister town Santa Elena a 500m walk away across the bridge and on the mainland.

Yesterday we checked the town out, laid on the pier, went for a dip, and then dipped into some mojitos and fantastic food for dinner!

Yum!
I didn't think a room with a/c was necessary last night but we promptly changed rooms this morning. The price of the room jumped from from $20 to $27, but anything to get my man a good night's sleep!

It is now after 5pm and I think a dip in the lake is in order. Likely another jug of mojitos too.

Can't you just hear Phil Collins singing in the background? (It's just a-no-ther day, for you and me...in paradise...)

Enjoy your day!
